Mushroom smuggling banned at the eastern border – over 900 kilograms seized

Kosovo Police announced today that they have prevented a case of smuggling of about 910 kilograms of fresh mushrooms in the border area of Karaqeva, in the municipality of Kamenica.
According to the official announcement, the case was discovered by the Patrol Units of the Border Surveillance Police Station (SPMK) - Muqivercë, at around 11:45 am on Monday, August 12, 2025.
"During the inspection of the vehicle, 910 kg of fresh champignon mushrooms were found," the announcement states.
The vehicle, a white van with local license plates, was driven by a Kosovo citizen.
According to the Police, after consulting with the prosecutor in charge, an order was issued to initiate the case and hand over the goods to Kosovo Customs for further procedures. /Telegraph/
