Animator Buck Woodall sued Disney for stealing parts of the script for the animated film "Moana 2".

According to American media, in the lawsuit filed in federal court in California, Woodall claims that the company has stolen parts of the script, which he wrote for the animated film called "Bucky."

He claims that his script and the animated script "Moana 2" take place in a legendary Polynesian village and focus on young adults who want to save their homes while encountering spirit animals along the way.

The lawsuit comes after a court hearing in November cleared Disney of an identical lawsuit filed by Woodall over the first Moana film, saying he waited too long to file a lawsuit.

However, the premiere of "Moana 2" gave him the opportunity to restart the legal proceedings. In the first case, the court announced that the jury had to decide whether the projects were substantially similar.

He also concluded that someone at Disney Animation TV may have seen his copyrighted material before development began on "Moana."

Dating back to 2003, Woodall claims he pitched the script and 'trailer' for the film Bucky to Jenny Marchick, a former executive at Mandeville Films.

According to Woodall, Marchick, who is now head of development for features at DreamWorks Animation, requested materials such as production plans, character designs and scripts. He claims the executive assured him she could greenlight the film.

Woodall is seeking a whopping $10 billion in damages, the equivalent of 2.5 percent of Moana's gross, as well as an injunction preventing further infringement of his copyright.

On the other hand, the director of the first part, Ron Clements, claims that "Moana" was not inspired or based on "Bucky" in any way. /Telegraph/
