Big win for Fortnite

Epic Games recently announced that Fortnite will be returning to iPhone devices in the U.S. However, there was one issue that now appears to have been resolved.

Following last week's announcement by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney that Fortnite would return to the iPhone, some speculated that this might not be possible, as Apple had closed Epic's developer account back in 2020, when the conflict between the two companies had escalated.

Last year, when the EU's Digital Markets Directive (DMA) required Apple to allow the Epic Games Store to open, a developer account was approved only for the European Union.

However, following last week's US court ruling, it remained unclear whether something similar would happen there, as the ruling did not specifically mention either Epic Games or Fortnite. Sweeney, however, shared on Twitter that a solution has been found, according to 9to5Mac.

"We have been in discussions with Apple about this matter and will use our Epic Games Sweden account to publish Fortnite on the US App Store. We created this account last year to launch the Epic Games Store and Fortnite in the European Union, and Apple was looking for an EU-based account," Sweeney said.

It seems this was the last major obstacle to Fortnite's return to America.

The company has not yet submitted the Fortnite application for approval to App Review, but is expected to do so in the coming days. /Telegraph/
