Thierry Henry reveals what would have happened if he had raced Usain Bolt at the peak of his career

Thierry Henry has revealed what would happen if he faced the Olympic sprinters.

As well as being one of the Premier League's best players, the Frenchman garnered much of his reputation for his electric pace that often left defenders behind him.

The former Arsenal star clocked a top speed of 39.2km in a match in 1998, which is the kind of pace that would make him competitive in an Olympic 100m sprint.

Henry's top speed is actually faster than Usain Bolt's average 100m pace of 37.5km, however, the Jamaican legend's top speed is 44.7km/h.

Speaking ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the documentary La Vie Sportive, Henry revealed that despite his top competitive speed, he would not be able to compete with Bolt.

“Not to joke, but you have to stay in your lane. I can play football, it's different, you know. I had zero technique, I was running out of steam," Henry explained via The Mirror.

"Because those guys train, the technique, the way they get off the start, the way they run, count their steps. I never thought about it."

“People always asked me, how fast would you have been in a 100m dash? And I was like, I don't know. The maximum you are running in the game is 40 meters. I have a lot of respect for those guys," he continued.

The World Cup winner was also asked if he could have made it into professional athletics if he had the right training, however, Henry stressed that he had his full focus on football. /Telegraph/
