The coach who hit the eight-year-old contestant after the loss speaks: I am her father, I did it to calm her down

A taekwondo competitor, only 8 years old from Kosovo, was slapped by her coach in a competition in Tirana, where it was eventually learned that he was actually her father.

In the video distributed by the media around the region, it is seen how the coach in question first pulls the competitor by the helmets, then slaps her.

There were many reactions from the sports opinion in general, as now the reaction of the coach from Suhareka, Valmir Fetiu, has arrived.

In his statement for Koha.net Fetiu first informed her that he is the girl's father and that his gesture was just to calm her down.

"She was to calm him down, as she took him close to her heart. It was a small buffet, it was for my daughter. She started to cry and scream and I didn't want to see her in that state in front of others", said Fetiu first.

"It was a race for first place. She took the second place, she was much better than the contestant from Serbia. She is an 8-year-old girl and she started crying. I told him to calm down."

"It wasn't a slap, just a touch on the face to calm him down and tell him it's over and see him greet him as befits a sportsman."

In the end, Fetiu said that the referee of the match has hurt his daughter a lot during this duel.

"She is very good. She was in the first place. Lost, took second place in the European. It took two wars until the final. It was the work with the Serb that was more sensitive and that was the reason why it was much better than her."

"I don't know why it was blocked, but it probably influenced why I lost to Serbia. She always grabbed his leg and the judge has sided with her. Many things were filled, I caught him and told him to stop and get ready for the other races".
