New research confirms that children inherit intelligence from their mothers

When it comes to intelligence, nothing can be more accurate than "I got it from my mother".

New research appears in Psychology Spot says that people are born with certain genes that work differently depending on whether they are inherited from their mother or father - and when it comes to intelligence, those genes come from the holy mother, reports the Telegraph.

Although people have believed that intelligence is inherited from both - mother and father, this is not the case in reality. Intelligence genes are located on the X chromosome, and since women have two of them, this means that the chances are twice as great that the child will inherit intelligence from the mother.

Even if the father passes on some of his intelligence genes, the chances are high that they won't have much effect on the brain since they only work if they come from the mother.

"If the same gene is inherited from the father, it is deactivated", write the researchers of this study.

"However, other genes work completely differently than this, they are only activated if they come from the father."

Their questions focused on children's intelligence, race, education, and socioeconomic status. The best predictor of intelligence, according to research? The intelligence of their mother! /Telegraph/
