IPKO Telecommunications is continuing the transformation of its mobile network, investing heavily in the expansion of 5G technology and the modernization of digital infrastructure in Kosovo.

This strategic step aims to offer higher speeds, greater capacity, and a more consistent user experience, preparing the network for future needs.

As part of this transformation, IPKO has successfully completed the shutdown of 3G technology at the end of 2025. This technology, which has been in use since 2013, has served users for more than a decade, but today paves the way for more advanced technologies. The shutdown of 3G has enabled more efficient use of frequencies and the full orientation of capacities towards the 5G network.

During 2025, IPKO has focused its main investments on the 5G network in the 3.5 GHz band, transforming it into the main pillar of mobile network development. 5G technology has also been activated in 81 base stations, while capacity has been increased from 80 MHz to 100 MHz at all points in this band. In addition, 20 new mobile telephony stations have been built, ensuring wider coverage, higher density and improved performance of 5G services.

In parallel with the expansion of 5G, IPKO has continued to improve the 4G/4G+ network, expanding it to 130 base stations. In certain areas, 4G capacity has been increased to guarantee stability and continuity of services during the transition to 5G, ensuring that users always have reliable connections.

“5G is now the main pillar of IPKO's network development. Through the closure of old technologies and continuous investments in the network of the future, we are building a modern and flexible infrastructure, ready for the digital demands of the coming years. This translates into higher speed, better quality and an uncompromising mobile experience for our users,” – said Andras Pali, Executive Director of IPKO Telecommunications.

Improvements in 5G and 4G networks have brought significant increases in the speed and performance of mobile internet. According to Speedtest Intelligence data, IPKO ranks ahead of other operators in terms of service quality. Currently, about 44% of IPKO users use the 5G network, while the use of older technologies is minimal.

According to official data from AREPC, IPKO holds 55.08% of the mobile telephony market in Kosovo, the highest percentage ever recorded. This result reflects continuous investments in the network and the expansion of coverage in all regions of the country, including the northern part (with the exception of Zubin Potok).

With this future-oriented approach, IPKO is building a modern mobile network ecosystem, where 5G leads innovation, 4G ensures stability and 3G closes as a technological chapter. This creates a strong foundation for long-term digital development and improving user experience across Kosovo.

As a leader in the mobile telephony market, IPKO continues to set new standards of performance and service, bringing innovative technology and faster, more reliable connections to all users.
