A transport plane linked to the Russian mercenary group Wagner has crashed in Africa, a month after the head of the mercenary group was killed in a plane crash near Moscow.

The plane from the Soviet era Il-76 was landing in Mali, where this mercenary group was stationed, Telegrafi reports.

Everything took place near Gao airport, a city where fierce fighting takes place.

At one point, the cargo plane is seen leaving the runway, crashes and bursts into flames.

Until now, it is not known how many people were inside or died. However, an amateur video shows the moment of the crash and explosion.

It is reported that the plane was destroyed as a result of a "technical defect" in the fuel tank, while Wanger's head also suffered the same.

He was considered one of the most powerful men in Russia, but his group's rebellion against the Russian army caused him to temporarily flee to Belarus. /Telegraph/
