According to preliminary results published by the Central Election Commission (CEC), local elections held on October 12, 2025 have produced a close competition between the main political parties in the country.

Vetëvendosje, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo will face off in a large number of municipalities in the second round of elections, which will be held on November 9.


Vetëvendosje (VV) has won 3 municipalities without a runoff: Kamenica, Podujevo and Shtime.

In 12 other municipalities, it goes to the runoff: In the runoff: Gjakova (against AAK), Gjilan (against LDK), Fushë Kosovë (against LDK), Mitrovica (against PDK), Kaçanik (against PDK), Obiliq (against LDK), Rahovec (against AAK), Peja (against LDK), Prishtina (against LDK), Prizren (against PDK), Viti (against LDK) and Vushtrri (against PDK).

In 3 of them it is leading, while in the other 9 municipalities it is second, still remaining hopeful for an increase in the result in the second round.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has won 3 municipalities without a runoff: Skenderaj, Ferizaj and Hani i Elezit.

Meanwhile, in 6 other municipalities, there will be a runoff: Dragash (against LDK), Kaçanik (against LVV), Klina (against AAK), Mitrovica (against LVV), Prizren (against LVV) and Vushtrri (against LVV).

In the municipalities that are in the runoff, PDK leads in 4 of them, while in 2 others it ranks second.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) managed to win 2 municipalities in the first round: Istog and Lipjan.

While in 9 other municipalities it goes to a runoff: Gjilan (against LVV), Fushë Kosovë (against LVV), Obiliq (against LVV), Peja (against LVV), Prishtina (against LVV), Viti (against LVV), Dragash (against PDK), Suhareka (against AAK) and Junik (against AAK).

Of these, LDK leads in 6 municipalities and is second in 3 others, positioning itself as one of the most successful parties in these elections so far.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has secured only 1 municipality in the first round in Deçan, but is present in 5 runoffs: Gjakova (against LVV), Rahovec (against LVV), Klina (against PDK), Suhareka (against LDK) and Junik (against LDK).

Of these, 4 of them are leading, demonstrating continued influence at the local level, especially in municipalities where there has traditionally been support, while 1 of them is ranked second.

The Social Democratic Initiative has managed to maintain control in the municipality of Malisheva, where it won without a runoff, while in other municipalities there were no visible results.

Ramiz Lladrovci has won without a runoff in Drenas, confirming his continued influence in this municipality.

The Serbian List has won 9 municipalities, mainly in northern Kosovo, and will participate in the runoff in another municipality in Kllokot.

The November 9th runoff is expected to be extremely important, as it could significantly change the local political map. The closest race is in Mitrovica, where preliminary results have shown a difference of only 28 votes between the two main candidates. There is also a close race in Pristina, Prizren, Peja and Gjakova.

The final results will be confirmed after the inclusion of votes from the diaspora, which in some cases may affect the current preliminary results. /Telegraph/
