Renault "retires" the Kadjar, it is replaced by the Austral model

Renault has announced the "end" of the Kadjar model, which brought to "life" only one generation, and the new compact SUV (C-SUV) will be called Austral.

The French manufacturer announced that the new name, derived from the Latin "australis", was chosen in order to sound good in many European languages, including French, which is very important for this brand, Telegraph reports.

According to Silvia Dos Santos, manager responsible for naming the model within Renault Global Marketing, the Austral "represents the liveliness and warmth of the southern hemisphere and calls for research, which makes it ideal for an SUV".

Austral is part of Renault's new range of compact SUVs, boasting innovative technology and ecological features.

In this car, with a length of 4,51 m, up to five adult passengers can travel without any problem, claim the French manufacturer.

The new model shows that Renault has decided to restore the place it had in the C segment of cars, after the launch of models such as the Arkana/Megane Conquest and the electric Megane E-Tech.

Renault Austral will officially be presented during the summer of next year, as a replacement for the "retiring" Kadjar. /Telegraph/
