Tech billionaire Peter Thiel says he only allows his kids 1,5 hours a week of "screen time"

Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal and the first outside investor in Facebook, revealed that he does not like his children to spend too much time in front of screens.

He was asked about the recent announcement by US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy that his office would require labels on social media platforms to warn of the dangers they pose to children's health.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, is also facing a lawsuit from 33 states that says Facebook and Instagram harm the mental health of young people.

And Thiel said that he allows his children only one and a half hours of screen time per week, Telegraph reports.

Thiel's children are young – 3 and 5 – so such a limit seems reasonable.

But children are using the Internet at younger and younger ages, causing concern about the rise of a generation of "iPad kids."

Thiel isn't the first tech leader to admit they strictly limit their kids' screen time.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said he also limits the 8-year-old's screen time to an hour and a half a week.

In addition, Google CEO Sundar Pichai previously said that he did not give his high school-age son a cell phone and that all the televisions in his home are locked in a way that makes watching TV not have such easy access. /Telegraph/
