The problem with stray dogs, Municipality of Pristina: We have initiated the procedures for opening a center that will deal with their treatment

The Municipality of Pristina has announced that with the signing of the emergency contract, dated January 18, 2022, for the treatment of stray dogs for the year 2022, the implementation of the contract has begun since the beginning of this week, in which case a significant number of stray dogs concentrated in or around the Germia Park.

"The contract ensures the continuation of their treatment, including capture, sterilization, vaccination and release (KSVL method), but also the control, feeding, identification and hospitalization of the dogs. Also, the decision was made that from the existing number of five feeding points, within a period of 7 days, the number will be increased to twenty-three points, with the possibility of expansion, always based on concrete needs.
It should be noted that the Municipality of Pristina, led by the mayor Rama, has started coordination with all interested parties, both local and international, to start the process of the final solution. An internal strategy has been developed, which will be discussed with institutional actors as well as with non-governmental organizations and individuals and professional organizations, so that the strategy is acceptable to everyone", the press release states.

Further in the press release, it is emphasized that the procedures for opening a center for the treatment of dogs have been initiated.

"This center will offer services for the treatment of not only stray dogs, but also the care, training, socialization of dogs with owners. Meetings have been held with the central level of government so that the coordination aspects with this level are deepened, since this coordination and cooperation is necessary so that the strategy and approach to stray dogs is successful, especially regarding the registration project with earrings and microchips of dogs, but also the control of breeding, reproduction, as well as the organization of awareness campaigns", the announcement states.

The municipality has announced that on Friday, January 28, starting at 09:30, it will organize a round table with representatives of the EU, non-governmental organizations, as well as other professional actors in the field on the framework strategy for treatment of stray dogs. /Telegraph/
