The largest deposit of gold in the world is found, worth over 80 billion dollars

A high-grade gold ore deposit containing about 1,000 metric tons of the precious metal has been discovered in central China, according to Chinese state media.

Worth about 600 billion yuan or 83 billion US dollars, the discovery could be considered the largest and most profitable gold deposit ever discovered, surpassing the 900 metric tons estimated to lie in South Africa.

The discovery was announced by the Geological Bureau of Hunan Province, writes yahoonews, the Telegraph reports.

Core samples suggest that each metric tonne may contain up to 138 grams of gold – an extraordinary level of quality.

Announcements of the finds have contributed to a further rise in the already surging price of gold, as demand for the resource continues to rise amid global uncertainty. /Telegraph/
