Albanian activist and lobbyist in the US, Faton Bislimi, has announced that the United States' positions towards Kosovo have been formalized through their inclusion in the NDAA 2026 draft law (National Defense Authorization Act), one of the most important national security laws in the US.

According to Bislim, the draft NDAA, which has passed the Senate and is expected to be voted on in the House of Representatives before being sent to the Oval Office for enactment, contains a special section that clearly defines American policy for the Western Balkans, including Kosovo.

"America's positions on Kosovo's interests have been codified in the NDAA 2026," said Bislimi.

He said that the draft law, with over 3000 pages, includes key US security issues, from military equipment to defense strategies, but for the first time, a section has been included that codifies US policy towards the Western Balkans and Kosovo in law.

According to Bislim, NDAA 2026 stipulates that: "The United States supports Kosovo and other countries in the region on the path towards integration into NATO and the EU, the United States supports the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue based on mutual recognition, and the United States does not support border changes, division, or exchange of territories along ethnic lines."

Bislimi has described this development as very important for the country.

"This is fantastic news! I am beyond proud to see that the hard work of many organizations in our community in the US and our relentless efforts to help Kosovo are paying off," Bislimi wrote.

He stressed that the partnership with the United States remains unwavering.

"Kosovo has never lost America's side. My commitment continues even stronger to make Kosovo strong, democratic and developed," said Bislimi. /Telegrafi/
