After counting the majority of votes from the local elections of October 12, 2025, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that a good part of the municipalities will organize the second round of elections on November 9 to determine the new chairmen.

Voter turnout was around 39%, while according to CEC data, 2.069.098 citizens were eligible to vote, including around 44,000 postal voters from abroad (September 17 - October 11).

The electoral process was conducted calmly and without major incidents, reflecting an orderly and transparent organization.

13/10/2025 00:41- Local elections 2025: 21 municipalities conclude the race in the first round, 17 others go to the runoff

Russia 38 municipalities of Kosovo, 21 of them have completed the mayoral race in the first round of local elections held on October 12.

In some of the main municipalities, the following results show clear victories:

Ferizaj: Agim Aliu (PDK) wins by more than 56% of votes.

Lipjan: Imri Ahmeti (LDKs) wins by more than 51% of votes.

Podujevo: Shpejtim Bulliqi (VV) wins by more than 53%.

Skenderaj: Sami Lushtaku (PDK) wins convincingly with over 83% of votes.

Kamenica: Kadri Rahimaj (VV) wins over 50%.

Istog: Ilir Ferati (LDKs) provides 58% of votes.

Extras: Qemajl Aliu (VV) wins over 50%.

Malisheva: Ekrem Kastrati (Social Democratic Initiative) wins over 53%.

Decan: Ramosaj Union (BARGE) wins over 51%.

drains: Ramiz Lladrovci (For Drenas the Champion) wins over 52%.

Hani i Elez: Mehmet Ballazi (PDK) wins over 50%.

In the four municipalities with a Serb majority – North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok – the winners were candidates Serbian list, which has also won in Novo Brdo, Shtërpcë, Gracanica, Ranillug and Partesh.

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, declared that “the Alliance has scored a historic victory.” In Suhareka, Rahovec, Gjakova, Deçan and Klina, he said they have achieved convincing victories.

The official website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) has begun publishing the first results of the local elections that were held today across the country.

However, according to the CEC, the percentage of votes counted is still very small, and the results are preliminary in nature.

12/10/2025 20:48- Voting violation, two cases in regular procedure - no arrests

Until the end of the voting process in Kosovo, the State Prosecutor announces that no person has been detained for criminal offenses related to voting rights.

During the day, several pieces of information were received regarding possible irregularities, but only two cases were considered to be based on elements of criminal offenses.

"The first case was registered in the village of Bare - South Mitrovica, for the criminal offense "Violation of the secrecy of voting". The suspect was released in regular procedure by decision of the prosecutor. The second case occurred in Kllokot - Gjilan, for the offense "Violation of the free determination of voters". The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has reacted after the conclusion of the voting process in the local elections, thanking citizens for their participation and support for the Vetevendosje candidates in the municipalities.

Through a post on social networks, Kurti emphasized that the citizens of Kosovo have once again proven their democratic culture, spending election day with calm, dignity and responsibility.

12/10/2025 19:58- PDK convinced that Uran Ismaili is in the runoff for Pristina

PDK Secretary Vlora Çitaku announced in a press conference that the Democratic Party of Kosovo is the winner of these elections.

She added that as a subject they are convinced that their candidate for mayor of Pristina, Uran Ismaili, is in the runoff.

"Regarding the exit polls, with all due respect to them, the truth is in the ballot boxes. As for Pristina, we are convinced that our candidate is in the runoff. This is confirmed by our teams from the field and our internal measurements. This will be confirmed within a few hours after the vote count is completed," she said.

12/10/2025 19:50- The 2025 local elections end without incidents, over 791 thousand citizens voted by 19:00

In a press conference, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that the voting process for the local elections ended at 19:00 PM and, according to data, no incidents were identified that could undermine the integrity or credibility of the elections.

The Chairman of the CEC announced that a total of 791,123 citizens have voted so far, which constitutes 39.07% of the voters out of 2 million 25,105 people with the right to vote.

12/10/2025 17:48- Election turnout reaches 32,55% - data as of 17:00

As of 17:00 PM, a total of 659,044 citizens have voted in today's elections in Kosovo, representing 32.54% of voters registered on the Voters' List.

According to data published by the Central Election Commission (CEC), the total number of citizens with the right to vote is 2,025,105.

Also, up to this hour, 2,426 out of a total of 2,571 polling stations have been processed, which constitutes 94.36% of regular polling stations.

12/10/2025 17:44- British Ambassador visits polling stations in Drenas: Happy that more people were coming out to vote in the afternoon

The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, after visiting several polling centers in northern Mitrovica and Zveçan, also visited some of the polling centers in Drenas.

Hargreaves said on the social network "X" that he is happy to see so many people exercising their right to vote.

"Our next stop was in Drenas, happy that more people were coming out to vote in the afternoon. I hope that all Kosovars will exercise their right to vote and elect their local municipal representatives," he wrote in "X".

The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku, in her last press conference for today, said that citizen participation in the elections is satisfactory and that support for the PDK is increasing significantly.

Çitaku has confirmed that the municipalities that will go without a runoff are the municipalities of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

12/10/2025 17:19- Elections without incidents in the north, Elshani: The process is proceeding normally

The electoral process in northern Mitrovica is taking place without any incidents, with less than two hours left until the closing of polling stations.

This was confirmed to the Telegraph by the Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani.

Elshani stated that the situation on the ground is calm and under full control.

The Democratic League of Kosovo said in a press conference that the electoral process is continuing in a democratic manner.

"Data from the field, from our commissioners and observers, tell us that the process so far has been orderly and democratic, therefore I thank the citizens of Kosovo for this democratic and orderly process, I invite those who have not yet voted to do so," said the spokesperson for this party, Besian Mustafa.

He added that he cannot speak about the results now, and that there have been no reports of any major incidents.

Gunfire has occurred in front of the polling station in the village of Komoran, Drenas.

A witness denied that the case was related to the electoral process, saying that the shooting occurred due to a previous disagreement between two young men, who initially fought among themselves and then one of them fired four shots.

A minor incident was reported this afternoon in the municipality of Shtime, where a person was escorted by Kosovo Police to one of the polling stations.

The Police Spokesperson for the Ferizaj Region, Kanun Veseli, told Telegrafi that the incident occurred at the voting center located at the "Naim Frashëri" school, around 14:30 p.m., when a person with the initials EM was escorted to the police station.

Citizens in South Mitrovica have complained about a change in the voting center in today's local elections.

Today, Sunday, October 12, 2025, the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are heading to the ballot boxes to elect mayors and members of municipal assemblies in the local elections.

Kosovo Police have confirmed that so far three cases of suspected ballot photo-taking have been received in the Pristina region. The cases were reported in three different municipalities: one in Podujeva, one in Drenas and one in Pristina.

The Police Spokesperson for the Pristina region, Flora Ahmeti, confirmed the news to Telegrafi, stating that all information is being handled in full coordination with the Prosecution.

The Central Election Commission's electronic platform reports that as of 13:29 p.m., citizen participation in the elections was 16,28 percent.

PSD candidate for mayor of Pristina, Besa Shahini, voted at the "Iliria" primary school.

Shahini has invited all citizens to become part of the voting process, especially women.

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, exercised his civic right by voting today at the Faculty of Law in Pristina, in the framework of the local elections for mayors and municipal assemblies.

After the vote, Kurti spoke briefly to the media, emphasizing the importance of this day for the future of municipalities in Kosovo.

The electoral process in Kosovo has officially begun today, with the opening of most polling centers in all municipalities of the country.

The news was announced by the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, who said that, with the exception of some delays in certain centers, the process has started normally.

"Voting centers in Kosovo are open, with the exception of some delays in certain centers. Today, the voting process is taking place in 948 voting centers with a total of 2625 polling stations, of which 910 are regular centers with 2571 polling stations, while another 38 centers, one for each municipality with 54 polling stations, have been opened to enable conditional voting," said Elezi.

According to a media release, around 100 state prosecutors and prosecutorial system officials have been engaged in these elections, who will remain on duty throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo until the end of the electoral process, with the aim of processing any irregularities that may occur in this year's local elections.

"The State Prosecutor invites the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, all political entities, institutions or various organizations, to report to the relevant prosecutors any case in which they suspect that the vote is being misused or manipulated in any way and by anyone," the announcement states.
