Microscope inspection expert Steve Gschmeissner took these pictures that show what's inside people's mouths.
The published images, which look like a sea sole covered in algae, are actually samples that Gschmeissner took from his mouth with a swab and put them on the microscope lens.
Images magnified more than 10 thousand times, are drawn with artificial color, to show in detail what lives in the teeth, gums and in the inner parts of the cheeks, Telegrafi reports.
While a large number of bacteria are harmless, and some are even needed by the mouth, others are the main causes of tooth decay.
Over 300 species of bacteria live in the mouth, including Lactobastillus, which is closely related to tooth decay, and Fusospirochete, which causes gum disease.
Whereas, some bacteria such as Streptococcus are often caught on the gums and cheeks, but not on the teeth.
However, regular mouth cleaning, especially before going to bed, causes a significant number of bacteria to leave, in order to protect the teeth and oral hygiene. /Telegraph/
