Six VAR referees are suspended after Vinicius' incident with Valencia fans

The Spanish Football Federation and the Referee Technical Committee have reportedly suspended six VAR referees following the alleged racist abuse of Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian was at the center of Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Sunday for all the wrong reasons.

The winger initially had a violent confrontation with Valencia fans, who were allegedly racially abusing him from the stands.

The 22-year-old was then shown a red card for a tackle on Hugo Duro after he was tackled by the Valencia player, prompting ironic jeers from the home fans.

Vinicius then posted a powerful statement condemning the actions of those supporters and the lack of action by La Liga.

But now they seem to have taken notice, suspending six La Liga officials, including Iglesias Villanueva, who was in charge of VAR during Real Madrid's defeat to Valencia, according to Marca.

Explaining the decision to dismiss the officials, the report revealed that the images given to on-field referee De Burgos Bengoechea that led to Vinicus' red card were not complete.

"They cannot find the reason why the sequence sent only referred to the Brazilian's hit to Hugo Duro's face and not the rest of the game," the statement said. /Telegraph/
