Reuters: Ukraine and US prepare new peace proposal for Russia

Ukraine and the United States are considering new proposals for a deal with Russia that would halt airstrikes.

The proposal is expected to be presented to Moscow as part of a new initiative to revive peace negotiations, Reuters writes.

A Ukrainian source, who has not been identified, confirmed that Ukrainian and American officials have already discussed the details of this initiative.

Ukraine had previously presented ceasefire proposals to Russian President Vladimir Putin, but they were rejected by the Russian president.

However, some officials believe that the pressure on the Russian economy, caused by the ongoing Ukrainian drone and missile attacks, could influence Putin's stance.

The possible new proposals come after a series of recent diplomatic activities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on July 22, where they discussed strengthening diplomatic efforts. /Telegraph
