US diplomat takes office as High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina
Following the decision of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) Steering Board to appoint Louis J. Crishock as Acting High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, he officially took over today from the current head of the Office of the High Representative (OHR), Christian Schmidt.
The handover took place today, marking the official start of Crishock's mandate at the head of the OHR, writes klix.ba.
The new acting representative expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the PIC Steering Board.
"I am honored by the trust that the Peace Implementation Council's Steering Board has placed in me. I will implement this mandate in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace and the powers entrusted to the High Representative," declared Crishock.
Speaking about the priorities during his mandate, Crishock emphasized that the direction of the OHR's action will not change and that the stability of the state will remain the center of attention.
"We will continue to focus on preserving peace and stability, supporting the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ensuring full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina," he said.
The current High Representative, Christian Schmidt, took the opportunity to congratulate the new Acting High Representative, wishing him success in carrying out the important responsibilities entrusted to him in Bosnia and Herzegovina. /Telegraph/
