Trump: Ceasefire is over, Iran asked for continuation of negotiations
Donald Trump has stated that Iran has requested continued talks with the United States and that Washington has accepted this request, but stressed that the ceasefire between the two countries has ended.
The US president said the US administration is ready to continue diplomatic negotiations, despite the end of the temporary ceasefire agreement.
According to him, Tehran has requested a return to the negotiating table.
The statement comes after a new escalation of tensions between the US and Iran, following attacks and counterattacks that affected military targets and maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf region.
Trump had earlier declared that the ceasefire was "done," increasing uncertainty about the future of the conflict and fueling concerns about stability in the Middle East.
However, he has left open the possibility of a negotiated solution, while the parties still remain far from a full agreement. /Telegraph/
