Bank of America vice president stabbed to death

A Bank of America vice president, Erin Piacenti, was killed Monday in a stabbing attack in Times Square.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued member of our team and will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones," the US banking giant said in a statement emailed to Reuters.

Piacenti, who was vice president of business selection and conflicts at the bank, died in hospital from injuries sustained during the stabbing attack, according to a report by Bloomberg News, which first reported the news.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at a news conference on Monday that a woman carrying several knives stabbed two people in Times Square before police used a Taser and opened fire.

According to police, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros suddenly pulled out several kitchen knives. She first attacked a 68-year-old man who had just gotten off the subway. She then lunged at Piacenti and stabbed him in the stomach.

The woman then walked towards the police, holding knives in her hands. The police opened fire on her and the attacker died at the scene.

Piacenti was taken to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. While the 68-year-old remains hospitalized and is in stable condition. According to the "New York Post", the attacker had mental health problems. /Telegraph/
