A Russian Shahed drone has hit the building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kiev, in an attack that Ukrainian authorities consider particularly serious due to the target of the strike.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the drone was aimed directly at the office of SBU head Oleksandr Poklad, describing the attack as an attempted assassination of the head of the Ukrainian intelligence service.
"The drone was aimed directly at the office of the head of the SBU in this building," he said.
The Ukrainian leader announced that he had ordered Poklady to prepare a counter-response to Russia, which, according to him, should be "adequate, sensitive and, if possible, symmetrical."
"Our military will support this response," he added, without giving details on what form the response might take.
Shahed drone strikes have become a key part of Russia's air campaign against Ukraine, while Kiev has repeatedly warned that it will respond to Russian strikes with attacks on military and security targets inside Russian territory. /Telegraph/
