Dubai has suspended registrations for its "Dubai Invite" initiative after receiving more than 90,000 requests from residents wanting to invite friends and family from abroad.

The program, which offers a range of discounts and benefits, was introduced in July with the aim of residents becoming ambassadors for the city, euronews reports.

Participants are offered benefits worth over 3,000 dirhams, around 700 euros. The package includes discounts on hotels, restaurants, as well as cheaper or free tickets to the city's main attractions. Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) announced that, due to the extraordinary interest, it, together with its partners, has tripled the number of packages available.

Although new registrations have stopped, the program continues for all those who have successfully registered. More than 30,000 benefit packages have been distributed so far.

Registered guests must travel to Dubai no later than October 31 of this year and must arrive directly from outside the UAE. Hosts will receive the benefits within 72 hours of their guests' arrival and can use them at partner locations until the end of the year.

The packages offer discounts on hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions and transportation services. Discounts are also valid on popular attractions such as Aquaventure water park and IMG Worlds of Adventure theme park, as well as a large number of restaurants.

The initiative was taken as part of efforts to maintain tourism growth after a record year in 2025, when Dubai recorded 19.59 million international visitors. DET stressed that the high interest shows the importance that visits from friends and relatives have for the tourism sector.

The tourism situation in 2026 has become more complicated due to the escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran, which has made travel and air traffic difficult throughout the Gulf region. /Telegraph/
