Kosovo Gendarmerie towards establishment, MIA initiates procedures for its creation

The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has announced that the first step towards the establishment of the Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo has been taken.

Through a public announcement, Sveçla announced that he has signed the establishment of a working group that will deal with analyzing and proposing modalities for the functioning of this new security institution.

"As Minister of Internal Affairs, today I signed the establishment of the working group which will analyze and propose modalities for the functioning of the Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo, as an Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," he declared.

According to Sveçla, the creation of the Gendarmerie constitutes an important step in strengthening the country's security and sovereignty.

"The Gendarmerie represents an important step in consolidating our security architecture, with a clear mission to guarantee a strong state presence in order to preserve our borders, territorial integrity and sovereignty, protect against terrorism, manage high-risk riots and protect critical infrastructure," he said.

He added that the Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo will contribute to increasing state capacities to deal with security threats.

"The Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo will significantly strengthen the state capacity to prevent, manage and neutralize threats that threaten the security of citizens and the territorial integrity of our country," concluded Sveçla. /Telegrafi/
