Russia has continued its attacks on Ukraine, despite the ceasefire announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the eve of the visit of US President Donald Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Overnight, Russian forces launched ballistic missiles and 167 drones at targets in Ukraine. The attacks caused casualties in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where five people were killed.
Attacks were also reported in Zaporizhzhia, where Russian forces struck a truck parking lot. Meanwhile, a drone crashed into a high-rise building in the city of Boryspil.
Zelensky had previously stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not carry out attacks on Russia during the visit of Trump representatives.
The Ukrainian leader called on Moscow to take the same measure and respect a pause in the fighting.
However, the overnight attacks indicate that the ceasefire has not been respected by the Russian side, adding to uncertainty about new diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Witkoff and Kushner's visit to Moscow is seen as part of the US administration's efforts to advance a proposal to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. /Telegraph
