Montenegro sends representatives to the anniversary of Operation Storm, Vučić is angry

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has criticized the decision of the Montenegrin Government to send representatives to the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the Croatian military-police operation "Storm", which will be held in Knin.

"The official state of Montenegro participates in the celebration of 'Storm', while it did not send anyone to the commemoration of the Serbs killed in Mrkonjic Grad. Thank you to the Government of Montenegro. This is not the end, but only the beginning of such decisions," Vučić declared, quoting RTS.

He added that the expectations of a part of public opinion after the political changes in Montenegro in 2020 have been too great and stressed that Serbia must continue to support the Republika Srpska and Serbs in Montenegro, writes vijesti.me.

"It is good to see all these facts, because that way we will be better prepared for the political events that are coming. We must be aware of all the problems and divisions that have been imposed on us," he said.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, the acting head of the Montenegrin Embassy in Croatia will participate in the ceremony marking Victory Day, Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Veterans Day and the anniversary of Operation Storm, in accordance with the usual diplomatic practice, especially between neighboring and NATO allied countries.

The Montenegrin ministry emphasized that the presence of the diplomatic representative is part of regular diplomatic practice and expresses respect for the host state and its state ceremonies, reaffirming Montenegro's commitment to good neighborly relations, dialogue, mutual respect and regional cooperation.

We recall that last year the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro had refused the invitation to participate in the ceremony in Knin, assessing that, due to the historical and regional context, the topic of Operation "Storm" remains particularly sensitive. /Telegraph/
