Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that around 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the start of the war with Russia, while around 400,000 others have been wounded.
According to him, a significant number of Ukrainian soldiers continue to be missing, while fierce battles on the front have caused heavy human losses for both sides.
Speaking about Russian losses, the Ukrainian president said that the total number of Russian military casualties and wounded has reached about 1.6 million people, of whom approximately 700,000 have been killed.
Zelensky did not release details on how these figures were calculated.
Data on military losses in the Russia-Ukraine war are difficult to independently verify, as both sides often publish different figures for the opponent's losses.
