Ukrainians set fire to Moscow refinery
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Ukrainian military units that on June 16 successfully struck the Moscow Oil Refinery, a facility that Kiev says is linked to the Russian military.
Zelensky said that the Moscow region has already felt the power of Ukrainian long-range strike capabilities.
"The oil refinery was hit at a distance of 500 kilometers. I thank the fighters of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Military Intelligence of Ukraine and the Missile Forces for their efficient work," he stated.
According to the Ukrainian president, Russia must be forced to end the war against the Ukrainian people.
"Ukrainian long-range weapons are one of the important components of this pressure. This is a fair response to Russian attacks and to the prolongation of the war that must end," Zelensky stressed.
Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that a Ukrainian drone hit an object inside the refinery's territory, but said there were no casualties. Russian authorities announced that the fire was quickly contained and the situation was brought under control.
The attack is part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign against Russian energy and military infrastructure, with the aim of weakening Moscow's capacity to continue the war. /Telegraph/
