A powerful explosion near a luxury restaurant in Moscow has left at least three dead and 21 injured, with Russian media reporting that the target of the attack is suspected to have been a senior Russian general.
According to reports, the Balzi Rossi restaurant was closed to the public on Saturday evening due to a private party celebrating the birthday of a Russian general.
Russian journalist Oleg Kashin claimed that the person in question was the commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Aleksandr Chayko. However, Russian authorities have not officially confirmed this information.
According to reports so far, an unidentified woman attempted to enter the restaurant, but was stopped by a security guard at the entrance. At that moment, the explosive device she was carrying exploded.
The woman, the security guard and another person were killed in the explosion, while at least 21 people were injured.
Police and emergency services have cordoned off the area, while roads leading to the restaurant remain closed as investigations continue. Authorities have not yet released details on the motive for the explosion or the identity of the perpetrator. /Telegraph/
