The increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is bringing major changes to education systems around the world, forcing governments to reconsider how this technology should be managed in schools.

One of the most worrying cases comes from Sweden, where a recent study has revealed a significant increase in cases of misuse of artificial intelligence by students. According to published data, the number of students suspended or warned for unauthorized use of AI tools increased by 688 percent in the period 2023–2025.

Faced with this situation, the Swedish government has requested an official review to analyze how schools are dealing with academic cheating enabled by new technology, writes theguardian .

Denmark has also taken new steps to limit the uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence chatbots by high school students. Danish Education Minister Magnus Heunicke has warned that immediate measures are needed to protect the credibility of the educational process.

Under the new rules, students aged 16 to 19 will have to orally defend their written works in order to prove that they are the true authors of them and that they understand the content of the work.

Schools will also have to use screen monitoring systems and technical safeguards during written exams to limit access to artificial intelligence platforms.

However, Denmark does not intend to completely exclude technology from education. The authorities have also developed pilot projects where students have been allowed to use AI tools while preparing for the oral part of English language exams.
