How to deal with a multi-drone attack - South Korea shows off defensive capabilities

South Korea has conducted military exercises to test its defensive capabilities against one of the greatest threats on the modern battlefield - massive coordinated drone attacks.

During the exercises held on the country's west coast, 50 drones were used to simulate a "swarm" attack, imitating new war scenarios where a large number of unmanned devices attack simultaneously from different directions.

According to reports, South Korean defense systems managed to neutralize most of the targets.

Eight Vulcan anti-aircraft guns shot down 44 drones through concentrated fire, while the remaining six were eliminated with a portable laser system and light weapons.

The exercise reflects growing concern among militaries around the world about the use of drones in conflict. Recent wars have shown that relatively inexpensive drones can cause significant damage to military equipment, infrastructure and defensive positions.

South Korea, which faces the ongoing threat from North Korea and its development of unmanned military technologies, is investing in new systems for detecting and destroying drones.

Seoul's military authorities consider defense against "swarm attacks" by drones a key element of future security strategy. /Telegraph/
