Ukraine's Prosecutor General is suspected of being involved in a new corruption scandal

Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies, NABU and SAPO, published audio recordings of people involved in Operation Carthage, which aimed to shut down illegal call centers that were defrauding citizens of Ukraine and European countries.

The call centers were allegedly protected by law enforcement structures in Ukraine.

Sergey Kropyva, head of the cyber department at the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, was arrested yesterday. In the investigation records, he is referred to by the codename "Chancellor".

“Chancellor” reportedly answered to a person identified by the codename “Chief.” NABU does not directly mention this person’s name, but does provide one clue: his patronymic is Andreevich.

This is the same patronymic held by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko.

NABU also points out that, if the independence of anti-corruption agencies had not been protected last year, this investigation might never have happened.

It was precisely these institutions that, according to NABU, were intended to be placed under the control of the Attorney General's Office. /Telegraph/
