Anti-Hamas protests erupt in Gaza
Hundreds of Palestinians have taken to the streets in anti-Hamas protests in several areas of the Gaza Strip, according to images circulating on social media.
The protests had been planned weeks earlier by anti-Hamas activists, who had called for a large turnout on July 26.
However, prior to their development, Hamas-linked individuals reportedly pressured and threatened residents who planned to participate, reports timesofisrael .
Protesters were seen holding banners with anti-Hamas messages, with some writing "With God's permission, Hamas out," "We are not hostages," and "We want to live."
In some footage, calls can be heard against the continuation of the war and destruction in Gaza, including the slogan "Enough with the destruction."
It was not known exactly in which areas of the Gaza Strip the protests took place, but a Facebook page called "June 26 Revolution" had called for demonstrations in 18 different locations across the territory.
The protests come at a tense time for Gaza, where the war and humanitarian crisis have increased discontent among a section of the population, while Hamas continues to be the main authority in the territory. /Telegraph
