Trump: I could end up like Iran's leaders, I'm their number one target
United States President Donald Trump stated that he could be Iran's main target, saying that he could end up like the Iranian leaders who, according to him, have been eliminated.
Responding to a question about whether the conflict with Iran constitutes a strategic dead end, Trump described the American operation as a "tremendous success" and reiterated that the Iranian nuclear program has been severely hit, writes skynews .
"Iran had leaders. They're gone. Then they had another group of leaders. They're gone too. Now they have another group. They could be gone too, who knows? And you know what? I could be gone too, because I'm their number one target. They're vile people. They've been doing this for 47 years. But I'm doing what's right for my country," the American leader said.
He added that he believes his actions are right not only for the United States, but also for the world.
Trump added that the US is responding to Iran with the same approach that Tehran uses. "We use their language. We speak their language," he said, emphasizing a tough approach to the Iranian regime.
He also insisted that the United States "is not seeking a long-term commitment" in the conflict.
In a follow-up question about oil prices and whether the Middle East is moving closer to a new large-scale conflict, Trump focused his response on Washington's red line towards Tehran: "Iran must not possess nuclear weapons." /Telegraph
