The Council of Ministers has approved in principle a direct loan agreement with the United States of America, totaling US$302 million. This financing will be provided under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) and aims to support the country's defense and security sector.

The decision comes with the joint proposal of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Finance, based on the constitutional and legal framework for international agreements.


According to the official text of the decision, the Republic of Albania in this financial transaction is represented by the financial line authorities, while the American side is represented by the specialized agency for defense security.

The decision states that the Council of Ministers decided to “approve, in principle, the direct loan agreement between the Republic of Albania, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the United States of America, represented by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), within the framework of Foreign Military Financing (FMF).”

The amount granted through this military financing instrument is specified in full currency value "with a loan in the total amount of 302,000,000 (three hundred and two million) US dollars, according to the text attached to this decision."/RTSH
