After 24 years on the air, is the famous Jimmy Kimmel show coming to an end?
Jimmy Kimmel's popular show is reportedly coming to an end after 24 years on the air.
According to sources cited by Page Six on Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is expected to end in 2027.
The news comes a year after the 58-year-old comedian's show was abruptly canceled. A source told the publication: "His contract will not be renewed."
Kimmel will return to the screen on Tuesday, while the final episode of the show will reportedly air in May next year.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, an ABC Entertainment spokesperson said: "This information is incorrect - any reporting regarding the future of the show at this time is purely speculative."
Kimmel's representative did not directly deny that his contract may not be renewed, but referred to ABC's statement.
Page Six sources claimed that Kimmel's years of criticism of President Donald Trump are unlikely to be the reason for the show's potential cancellation.
An insider claimed that Disney's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, would not be swayed by pressure from Trump and his supporters.
“He’s not afraid of the administration… Josh is not backing down,” the source said.
A source at ABC said a desire to cut costs may have influenced the network's decision not to renew Kimmel's contract.
“It would have nothing to do with Trump,” he said.
D'Amaro is also said to have offered early retirement packages to the company's executives, as part of a restructuring and efforts to cut costs.
Kimmel has also had a strained relationship with his network, ABC. On September 17, 2025, the comedian's show was suspended by ABC and the Walt Disney Company, which owns the network, after Kimmel was criticized by conservative figures for comments he made regarding the murder of activist Charlie Kirk.
