The Kosovo Oilmen's Association has welcomed the decision of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT) to cancel the decision to determine the selling prices of fuels and restore the functioning of the free market.
According to the Association, the market in Kosovo has a large number of operators and different offers, while free competition enables consumers to choose the most favorable offer and encourages operators to offer more competitive prices, secure supply and higher quality services.
The association emphasizes that currently the prices of fuel in international markets are at high levels and are characterized by continuous fluctuations. According to it, Kosovo, as a country that is completely dependent on imports, is directly affected by these developments, but also by the costs of transportation, supply and exchange rates.
"Members of the Association are monitoring the market every day and are taking the necessary measures to optimize supply and costs, in order to make the impact on consumers as affordable as possible," the response states.
The Kosovo Oilmen's Association has emphasized that it remains committed to fair competition, transparency and protecting the interests of consumers.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade has stopped setting the maximum price for petroleum products, paving the way for the return of market prices at points of sale in Kosovo.
The decision comes after an extended period of price regulation following the Middle East war, through which MINT had set maximum prices for petroleum products in the country.
The acting Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, tells KosovaPress that the legal basis provides for the maximum price to be determined for a period of up to 90 days, while the ministry had extended this period to 150 days.
