David Beckham appeared in Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum and avoided answering reporters' questions about the conflict with his eldest son Brooklyn. This is his first public appearance since Brooklyn Beckham spoke publicly about the family feud.During his stay in Switzerland, the 50-year-old former footballer took part in the recording of an episode of the podcast Reconsidering, hosted by author Adam Grant. While he was taking photos with fans, a Sky News reporter tried to get his comment.

"David, do you have a message for Brooklyn today?" the reporter asked, but Beckham turned and left without saying a word. To the additional question: "Are you disappointed that family matters are being made public?", he also did not answer.

Immediately before this, during the podcast recording, Beckham seemed tired and mostly responded briefly and restrainedly, without making any significant statements.

The day before, 26-year-old Brooklyn Beckham posted a message on Instagram in which he declared that he does not want to reconcile with his family and that, as he wrote, "for the first time in his life, he is standing up for himself." He and his wife Nicola Peltz have not attended major family events in recent months, including David Beckham's 50th birthday party.

In his post, Brooklyn accused his parents, David and Victoria, of "controlling" him and that, according to him, their public image is more important than anything else. He also stated that only after finding "peace and relief" with Nicola was he able to cope with his anxiety.

"My entire life, my parents controlled our family's story in the media. Impression-making publications, staged family moments, and forced relationships were all part of the life I was born into," Brooklyn wrote, adding, "I believe the truth always comes out in the end."

He cited events from his wedding as one of the key moments of the conflict. He claims that his mother, Victoria, took over the first dance, which, he says, should have gone to him and his wife.

"In front of about 500 guests, Marc Anthony invited me up on stage where my romantic dance with my wife was supposed to take place, but my mother was waiting to dance with me. I found it extremely awkward and humiliating," Brooklyn said.

Because of all this, he claims, he and Nicola renewed their wedding vows last year without his family members present. He also said his mother called him "evil" for choosing the guests for their wedding table and that some family members told him Nicola "is not blood" and "is not part of the family."

One of the points of contention was the wedding dress. Brooklyn claims that Victoria backed out of creating Nicola's dress at the last minute. However, previous statements contradict this. A 2022 Vogue article stated that the Valentino dress took almost a year to make, and Nicola herself previously explained that Victoria had told her that her studio was unable to finish the dress in time.

Brooklyn also claimed that the family ignored him during a visit to London for his father's birthday and that David only agreed to meet if Nicola was not present. He also added that Victoria did not want to support his wife's humanitarian action to save dogs that were left homeless during the Los Angeles fires in January 2025.

"The only time my wife asked my mother for support to help homeless dogs, she refused," Brooklyn wrote.

Despite the family drama, David Beckham was focused on business duties in Davos. This year's World Economic Forum is being held under the theme "Spirit of Dialogue," bringing together nearly 3,000 participants from the worlds of politics and business. Topics include the impact of artificial intelligence, geo-economic competition and the growing gap between rich and poor, and attendees include actor Matt Damon and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. /Telegraph/
