The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasized that Serbia, despite its official refusal to recognize Kosovo, understands better than ever that our country is an independent state.

Kurti also identified the Russian Federation as a major contributor to instability in the region through its influence over Serbia.

He stressed that out of Kosovo's four neighbors, three recognize the state, while Serbia remains the only one that has not done so.

"The reality has changed a lot and Serbia's dream of returning to Kosovo must be extinguished," Kurti said.

After these statements, The director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, reacted with biased comments, attempting to delegitimize the state and institutions of Kosovo.

He described Kosovo as an "improvised and failed creation" that claims to be unrecognized by more than half the world.

Meanwhile, the Bahamas - an island country in the Atlantic Ocean, became the 121st country in the world to recognize Kosovo.

Petkovic's statements reflect a continuing tendency to produce negative narratives about Kosovo's independence and interethnic relations in the north, being part of Belgrade's strategy to maintain pressure on the country's institutions and undermine the integration of the Serbian community into state structures.

It should be noted that Serbia consistently uses deliberate and tendentious statements when it comes to Kosovo.

Serbia's campaign for de-recognition

Since Kosovo declared independence on February 17, 2008, Serbia has opposed it and tried to convince countries not to recognize Kosovo, or to withdraw recognition.

Despite the fact that Serbia has often announced the withdrawal of recognition, experts have said that according to international norms and international law recognition cannot be withdrawn.

Serbia has been campaigning for de-recognition since 2017. Meanwhile, since independence, it has attempted to block Kosovo from joining international organizations and mechanisms.

Earlier, Serbia claimed that Kosovo had been recognized by the following countries: Sao Tome and Principe, Suriname, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Liberia, Papua New Guinea, Lesotho, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, the Union of the Comoros, the Solomon Islands, Madagascar, Palau, Togo, Central African Republic, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Nauru.

But, all these claims were denied by Kosovo institutions./Telegrafi.
