Recently released footage, taken on May 10, 2025, shows US President Donald Trump's reaction to accepting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for a ceasefire with Russia.

During a recorded conversation, French President Emmanuel Macron first apologized to Trump for calling him early in the morning (06:00, local time in the US), to break the news that "Zelensky had accepted his proposal for a 30-day ceasefire."

"We have now decided to support a ceasefire that will start on Monday and should last 30 days, in order to begin building a just and lasting peace," the narrative says, referring to the agreement reached between European leaders and Zelensky in Kiev.

"If the ceasefire is violated, the Europeans and Americans will prepare and coordinate large-scale sanctions," the French leader then adds.

The American leader's reaction was spontaneous and enthusiastic, "Ohhhh, great! Nobel Prize. You're the greatest."

Also present during the conversation were British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and European Council President Donald Tusk.

At the same time, Zelensky asked Trump to impose sanctions on Russia if Vladimir Putin refuses the ceasefire, a request that received positive support from the US president.
