The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) is at a historic moment of transformation, with investments exceeding 500 million euros, which aim at modernization, sustainability and full harmonization with European Union standards.

Kurti emphasized that the modernization of turbines and other investments in units B1 and B2, the deep rehabilitation of unit A3, as well as major investments in the Kosovo A and Kosovo B power plants, constitute key steps for the country's energy security. An important innovation, according to him, is also KEK's first entry into the renewable energy sector through the solar park.

With the completion of these projects, Kosovo is expected to add about 150 megawatts of additional capacity to existing power plants and 100 megawatts of new generation capacity from renewable sources.

The Prime Minister announced that since December 19, KEK has been producing at maximum capacity, with five active generating units, to guarantee the security of energy supply during the cold days of the end and beginning of the year, when consumption is high.

Finally, Kurti thanked the employees and management of KEK for their work and professionalism, as well as the Board of Directors and the Ministry of Economy for their supervision and support in the implementation of these projects.

"KEK today is strengthening the foundations of the energy of the future - a stronger, more modern, safer and greener KEK, at the service of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and future generations," said Kurti.
