Darwin Nunez has only been at Al-Hilal for a few months, but the buzz surrounding his next move is already growing, leaving his long-term future in Riyadh increasingly uncertain.

The Uruguayan striker moved to the Middle East last summer and initially recorded satisfactory statistics, however speculation has surrounded him almost immediately, with constant reports linking him with a quick return to Europe or another transfer elsewhere.

A key factor that has added to the uncertainty is the evolution of Al-Hilal's offensive department, especially after the arrival of Karim Benzema in January, which has naturally raised questions about Nunez's available minutes, status and place in the team's hierarchy.

Fenerbahçe's interest became the clearest example of how quickly his name was back on the market, with reports suggesting the Turkish club had made an initial request and were considering a loan at the end of the transfer window.

However, the same sources stressed that there was "no guarantee" that talks would progress, while Fabrizio Romano also downplayed the possibility of a transfer for Nunez to Istanbul during that period.

Now that the dust of the January transfer window has settled, it seems that the former striker beloved by Anfield fans continues to face difficulties.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Youm, the leaders of the Saudi Super League, Al-Hilal, have removed the Uruguayan from the list for the domestic championship, while keeping him registered for the Asian Champions League.

In his place, the club has registered Marcos Leonardo on the local list, which means the Brazilian is now eligible to play in the Saudi Super League matches in the coming weeks.Telegrafi/
