Haradinaj withdraws from AAK leadership, Ardian Gjini announces candidacy

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has announced internal party elections, while its leader, Ramush Haradinaj, has announced that he will no longer run for the position of party leader.
Through a media appearance, Haradinaj announced that after a long period at the head of AAK, he has decided not to run for re-election.
"We have just concluded the 177th meeting of the General Council. We have agreed on the decisions for the electoral bodies that the General Council will elect, and we have also announced the internal elections at all levels. The electoral process begins on February 20 and ends on June 6. So, our orientation for the Assembly is the statutory four-year term, with regular elections. It is a really good situation that we have made the best preparations for these elections in time."
He indicated that the current mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini, has expressed ambition to lead AAK.
"At the same time, I know that the novelty and change is the fact that I will not run for president of the Alliance. In these elections, I have also told my colleagues some reasons, which I am explaining to you as well. It has been a long time in leadership, since May 2000, so time is also a factor and then the poor result from the elections," he said.
The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has also declared that he is not a candidate for president of the country.
He stated this during a press conference.
"I am not a candidate for president of the country. If I were in a certain circumstance, if parliament, the deputies asked me, I would have considered it," declared Haradinaj.Telegrafi/
