Bove accepts heart defibrillator implantation, can no longer play in Italy

Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove has agreed to undergo surgery to have a heart defibrillator implanted.
During a Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter on December 1, the 22-year-old collapsed on the pitch in the 17th minute, suffering a seizure that led to cardiac arrest.
An MRI revealed a scar on Bove's heart, likely caused by myocarditis, which may have come from a 19 COVID-2020 infection.
Doctors recommended the installation of a heart defibrillator to manage possible future cardiac problems.
While Bove has agreed to the procedure, Serie A regulations prohibit players with such devices from competing in the league due to the risk of device failure.
This decision ends Bove's career to play professional football in Italy.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan to Fiorentina from Rome, while this season he has scored one goal and assisted three others in 15 matches played. /Telegraph/
