The Banks Association has raised concerns about an increase in online fraud, where users are deceived through the use of personal and banking data.

Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of the Association, explains to A2CNN that fraudsters often create fake pages that look like the real thing and ask for personal data, PINs or security codes, making the transaction go to their accounts.

He indicates that citizens are also deceived with messages informing about supposed packages, where personal data is required to receive the delivery.

Brumbulli urges caution: “Delete any messages or emails from unknown sources that require urgent action, and never give out your bank account details. Banks will never ask you for your card number, PIN, secret codes or passwords.”

The three main forms of online fraud are: tempting offers using well-known names and brands, fake offers from supposed stores, and package announcements requesting online card payment.

The Banking Association appeals to citizens to be vigilant and avoid any hasty actions on the internet, to protect their data and funds.
