The Vardarishti landfill has caught fire again today, reigniting concerns about air pollution in Skopje.

The "Stop for Vardar" Association announced that after protests and public pressure at the end of last year, the situation had calmed down for several months, but today citizens are once again facing smoke, pollution, heavy odors and a direct risk to health.

They warn that this is the "last warning" and if agreements to end pollution are not respected and if the burnings are repeated, protests and blockades will return.

The association calls on the responsible institutions to react urgently and with maximum seriousness, while demanding from the Ministry of Internal Affairs the restoration of police presence at the landfill.

"We will not allow Vardarishti to poison Skopje again," their response states.
