Residents and activists from Peja, Plava, Gucia and Andrijevica have announced a peaceful protest on April 25th with the main demand being the functionalization of the road and the opening of the border crossing at Çakorr, which would more easily connect Kosovo with Montenegro.

As reported Inklik.net, the rally will be held with the slogan "Enough with isolation!" and will take place in the Kotlovi - Kuçishte area, on the Çakorri mountain, starting at 12:00.

The organization is being led by initiators Muhamet Nikqi, Mehdi Berisha and Nedzat Cecunjanin, while a large number of citizens, civil society representatives and activists from both sides of the border are expected to participate.

The organizers have called on the institutions of Montenegro and Kosovo to treat the opening of the border crossing at Çakorr as a strategic priority, linking it to the economic and tourist development of the region.

According to the organizers, the non-functioning of this border crossing for years has led to economic isolation and a decline in the movement of people and goods, while also hitting tourism in mountainous areas.

They say destinations such as Rugova, Plava and Gucia are being avoided by visitors due to the lack of direct connectivity, negatively impacting local businesses, including guesthouses, restaurants and transporters.

The announcement states that an official petition is expected to be signed during the protest, which will be submitted to the respective governments as a request for the opening of this border crossing, which the organizers call vital for the region.

Organizers have called on citizens from all areas, including Kosovo, to join the protest. /Telegrafi/
