The Basic Court in Pristina has ordered a month of detention for Dejan Peleviq, suspected of war crimes in Skenderaj.

According to the Prosecution, this suspect and other uniformed individuals, after receiving injections, set out to commit crimes in two directions, killing 15 Albanian civilians and disappearing 16 others.

Dejan Peleviq was read in court on Thursday the crimes that the Prosecution believes he committed 27 years ago in the Municipality of Skenderaj, including the deprivation of the lives of 15 Albanian civilians.

The former Serbian MUP official, who was arrested two days ago in the north, sat in the suspect's seat, as he is suspected of the criminal offense of "War crimes against the civilian population."

At the request of the prosecution, the Basic Court in Pristina sentenced him to 1 month in pre-trial detention, after assessing that if he is released, there is a risk of escape.

The Prosecution's request for pre-trial detention, which was obtained by KOHA, states that Pelević and other members of the Serbian forces set out to commit crimes from the police station, where they previously received injections from people in white coats.

"A number of forces from these units and identified by white camouflage clothing moved to the police station and there in a formation of two stood for a short time until three people dressed in white coats, similar to medical personnel, came down from the balcony of the police station - Skenderaj and gave injections to members of the Serbian forces, then, the Serbian forces split in two directions: one formation headed towards the houses opposite the station, while the other towards the II quarter of the city. In a coordinated manner, groups of 3-4 members entered each house, then severe violence was exercised, innocent civilians were killed and terror was caused among the Albanian population. During this illegal operation by the Serbian forces, in the yards and houses of the neighborhood and in the place called Pishat, in addition to the expulsion, burning of houses and property, looting and inhuman torture of the residents, fifteen (15) Albanian civilians were killed and have disappeared sixteen (16) other Albanian civilians, unarmed and not involved in the war," the prosecution's request states.

According to the prosecution's request, in March 1999, the suspect Pelević, as an official of the Serbian MUP, together with other police and military personnel, launched an operation from the Ammunition Factory to loot and expel Albanian civilians.

"Numerous military and police forces were initially concentrated at the location of the Ammunition Factory in the village of Prekaz and from there they dispersed by moving in formations with military and police vehicles. Military formations reinforced the peripheral positions of the city by placing additional machinery and personnel at the entrances and exits of the city and at some points dominated in order to prevent the movement of citizens in and out of the city of Skenderaj. Some formations from the elite units of the MUP that operated directly in the commission of the crimes were dressed in white uniforms, masks and black gloves," the prosecution's request states.

The prosecution's claims were rejected by the defense attorney of the suspect Pelević, attorney Predrag Milković. He said that his client did not commit the criminal offense for which he is charged.

Dejan Pelević was arrested on Tuesday in the village of Soqanica, Leposavic.
