The Statistics Agency of Kosovo has today published the first final data from the population census conducted from April 5 to May 24, 2024.

The final data include: the number of the population at the country and municipality level divided by gender, average age, population density in km², number of dwellings.


According to official data, Kosovo has 1 million 602 thousand 515 inhabitants.

The results show that the average age of women is 35.66, while that of men is 34.03.

According to the results, the religious structure of Kosovo is dominated by the Islamic faith, while the Orthodox and Catholic communities represent the largest groups of religious minorities.

Based on the results, 93.49% of the population belong to the Islamic faith, 2.31% to the Orthodox faith, 1.75% to the Catholic faith, 0.5% have declared no faith, 1.5% have not answered their religious affiliation, while 0.45% have declared other faiths.

In this registration process, war damages were also recorded for the first time.

Based on the data published during the war, 11 thousand 417 people were killed, 1047 people disappeared, 6682 people were injured and 3312 were imprisoned.

The Population Census (ReKos 2024) was conducted in all municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo. Over 99.8% of codified buildings including new ones were covered by the Census.

In the 4 northern municipalities of Kosovo: Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, Zveçan and Mitrovica, there was a large boycott, although some of them were registered. /Telegraph/
