University professor in Albania and international politics expert Enver Bytyçi commented on the latest political developments in Kosovo, speaking about the constitutional impasse related to the process of electing a new president.

On Euronews Albania, Bytyçi mentioned the role of the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, saying that he had provided guidance on the issue of electing the president, but according to him, this was ignored by the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

According to Bytyçi, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti saw Rama's visit to Pristina as an attempt to lobby in favor of the re-election of President Vjosa Osmani.

"Mr. Kurti took it as a kind of trap for Mr. Rama and Mrs. Osmani. Mr. Rama did not come for the independence celebration in Pristina, he came the day before to do a favor for Osmani to help him become president again," declared Bytyçi.

He also mentioned that after a meeting between Rama and Kurti, a joint press conference was planned, which according to him was canceled due to disagreements regarding Osman's stance on running for another term.

"Kurti believed that Rama came to Pristina to lobby for Vjosa Osmani and to present him with a fait accompli," Bytyçi declared, adding that the Kosovo prime minister does not accept interference or pressure in his political decision-making.

He emphasized that such developments may have influenced the conclusion of the process with the rejection of Osman's candidacy for another term.

Bytyçi commented on Richard Grenell's public statement, which in a way signaled a change of government in Kosovo after this impasse. According to the professor, Grenell is paid by Serbia.

"When Grenell speaks, Vučić has spoken, I have no other comment. He is categorically paid and is on Belgrade's payroll to lobby against Kosovo and in favor of Serbia. When I read it, I thought that this happened with a direction by these exponents. Nothing happens by chance," said Bytyçi.
